As our HR Generalist, you will join a well-funded, fast-growing technology startup with the unique opportunity to help build and grow our team. Your primary responsibility will be to support and coordinate general HR activities supporting our team in Canada, owning payroll, benefits administration, employment law compliance, onboarding and offboarding processes. You will collaborate closely with cross functional teams and employees to understand their needs and develop effective HR processes and policies.
We are looking for someone who works hard, demonstrates strong communication skills, and is willing to go above and beyond to help our team.
This role is hybrid and based in Toronto, Ontario. (Opportunity to work in-office 3 days a week and from home 2 days a week. This is not a remote role.)

- Proficiency in HRIS (preferably HiBoB and Deel), payroll tools and performance management systems (preferably Lattice).
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, accountability and confidentiality.
Bonus:
- You have tech start-up experience and experience navigating Ontario and Canadian labor laws.
What you’ll do:
- Collaboration with Managers and Employees : Partner closely with managers to understand their employee relations needs. Provide guidance and support to managers on HR best practices and ensure compliance with HR policies. Provide timely communication, feedback, and updates to ensure a positive employee experience.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices and legal requirements. Develop, implement, and update HR policies and procedures.
Benefits and Payroll Administration: Administer various employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies. Assist and guide employees with benefits enrollment and inquiries. Manage payroll processes.
- Onboarding and Offboarding: Conduct new employee orientations and ensure smooth onboarding processes. Facilitate offboarding processes to ensure an efficient and smooth process.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Track human resource metrics and records. Analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of People team strategies and programs. Generate reports and provide insights to stakeholders to inform decision-making and optimize the employee lifecycle. Maintain our HRIS, ensuring a high degree of accuracy and timeliness in processing all team member changes and new joiners.
