Carbon Ridge is backed by leading maritime owners, operators, and strategic investors across energy and industrial sectors such as The Grantham Foundation, Crosscut Ventures, Berge Bulk, Crowley and others. Carbon Ridge was founded by Chase Dwyer, Babson Grad and recipient of Forbes '30 under 30' honor.

Carbon Ridge develops modular Onboard Carbon Capture and Storage (OCCS) systems that provide the maritime industry with a practical, cost-effective pathway to regulatory compliance and decarbonization. Earlier this year, Carbon Ridge deployed the shipping industry’s first centrifugal OCCS onboard an LR2 tanker owned by Scorpio Tankers, demonstrating the viability of scalable carbon capture at sea and achieving 90%+ CO2, SOx, and NOx removal. Carbon Ridge's modular design reduces the overall system footprint and thermal energy requirements compared to conventional CCS systems by over 50%, minimizing installation time, vessel downtime, and cargo displacement, thereby reducing costs and improving operational efficiency while adapting to diverse vessel profiles. Carbon Ridge is looking for Spring and Summer Engineering Interns excited to join a promising maritime startup working on the scale up and design changes of the centrifuges and auxiliary equipment of their onboard capture system. We are looking for both undergraduate and graduate-level candidates from Mechanical/Marine Engineering (CAD-focused) and Chemical Engineering (Aspen/HYSYS) programs who want hands-on experience in CAD, prototyping, lab work, fluid dynamics, and process modeling.

Those currently enrolled in, or who recently completed a Bachelor’s degree are encouraged to apply.

Terms & Location:

  • Spring 2026: Remote (15–25 hours per week).
  • Summer 2026: Full-time (40 hours/week), based in our Los Angeles office.
  • One application covers both terms, and candidates may elect to work across both.

Compensation: The anticipated hourly rate for this internship is $20.00 – $30.00 per hour.

(This is a good faith estimate based on the qualifications and experience required for the role at the time of hire.)

Spring and Summer Interns will be given the opportunity to work on a variety of science and engineering problems:

  • CAD development and prototyping of new centrifuge design features and subsystem modifications
  • Creation, execution, and analysis of Aspen/HYSYS process models for Carbon Ridge’s onboard capture system
  • Development of computational tools and internal frameworks to support system optimization, engineering decision-making, and R&D workflow efficiency
